I agree...it's Chicago bully-politics and we've probably only seen the tip of the proverbial corrupt iceberg.

The left has no problem using the bully pulpit to target  and try to silence those with whom they disagree. I am not at all surprised that the Obama administration is using this technique. It's SOP and I've seen it used in much smaller forums.

Whenever any one group applies for tax exempt ~ i.e., tax free ~ status, the IRS is required to scrutinize such request.

It's the job of the IRS to execute US tax law fairly.  The IRS did not...and the inquisition they put conservative groups through was, in may cases, illegal.  It was also illegal for the IRS to take some of that private data and give it to other private liberal organizations.

And when several freaky fringe groups apply for tax exempt status under the umbrella of an almighty tax exempt Tea Party, the applicants are again held to strict scrutiny.

The IRS doesn't get to use a political barometer to determine how "freaky" a political group is.  And beware what you wish for.  One day soon, that same IRS will be under the auspices of a Republican administration and it might be your groups or your interests that are being oppressed.  I'm sure we'll hear a different song from the left then.

Tax exempt status is.........rare.  Paying taxes is the........norm.  If they want extra special privileges, then submit the darn paperwork to the IRS.  Such babies!

Then why weren't those "freaky left-wing frings groups" subject to the same scrutiny?  Why was Obama's group granted status immediately?  Why was his brother's group approved in only one month while many conservative groups have been waiting in limbo for three years?

I think you have to put aside your extreme partisanship on this issue and see the danger of an organization as powerful as the IRS using it's full might to oppress American citizens and free speech.

<<Grab the torches and pitchforks.  The IRS is doing its job.  Heaven forfend.  Surprised

I call bullhockey on this one!!!  Only doing their jobs????? Why on earth did two oversite boards admit the wrongdoing, the IRS apologize and Obama claim he was "outraged" for over-scrutinizing conservative groups soley because they had words like Patriot or Freedom or Tea Party in their name?

<<Such babies!>>

This was blatant abuse by the IRS and this is the agency that is going to be in charge of policing Obamacare???? Just wait till the next election and then we will see who the babies really are.  Democrats will be crying all the way home.

The fact is, tea partyers make a grand show of complaining about over taxation. That's like driving around with a 'smoke weed' sticker on your bumper - what do you think would happen with law enforcement?

"Smoking weed" is a crime...supporting the Constitution and complaining about over taxation is not.  The police would be doing their job...the Obama IRS would be committing a crime.

<<t's pretty clear that Obama cultivates a culture of corruption...and utter ineptitude.  Hopefully, impeachment is just around the corner.  It will be a good day when we can put Barry and his cronies in the rear-view mirror...and hopefully, in jail.>>

Oh I doubt that will happen.  The media  is mad right now but they are too invested in Obama and his "coolness" to let hiim go up in a ball of flames.  And his supporters are pulling out all the stops to protect him.  This will defintely hurt him but I don't see it as ending his presidency (unfortuately).

What I do find ironic is that in Obama's address to Ohio State that he warned  people to reject the voices of people who say that government is tyrannical.  This says it best....

--snip--

Yes, reject the voices which tell you that the IRS might target you because of your politics.

Or that the EPA might treat you differently because of your stance on green energy.

Or that the Justice Department might selectively enforce the law depending on whether or not your industry is favored by the administration.

Or that the government spying on the phone records of reporters might become so routine that the Attorney General can’t even remember how many times he’s authorized such a thing.

One of the most common themes of the Obama era has been that skepticism of the government is a dangerous sort of extremism. But what’s dangerous, as the Obama administration is proving to the nation, is putting too much trust in the government.

Even some democrats are seeing Obama and these revelations as scary.  Maybe there is some hope afterall.......NAH  they will let it slide. (shakes head in discust)

OMG!!!  Really??  The "Bush Did It Too" excuse?  So does that mean it is ok for Obama do this to over 300 conservative groups?  Wow!!  I can see this running in liberals heads over and over...

Soooo which scandal are we talking about????  OHHH, I think you are referring to the IRS one.  So many to choose from.  Soooo Republicans knew about this but Obama didn't???  Wow!! You would think that something this outrageous, they would have at least let him know what was going on?  Oh but I guess he was too busy playing golf or sleeping and campaigning when things are ramping up (Benghazi).   And we don't really know how high up the chain this went so to say it was only a "low level employee" is a little premature. And since a main player in this is pleading the 5th, I think there is something there to hide.

<<<Further, do you believe none on the left in the same tax category went unaffected?>>>

So, because only roughly 20 liberal groups out of 400 were targeted means that it was bipartisan???? Well, sorry that logic just doesn't hold water. And the types of question asked of these conservative groups..like what books do you read and what cable news do you watch is very very unsettling.

<<The fact is, tea partyers make a grand show of complaining about over taxation. That's like driving around with a 'smoke weed' sticker on your bumper - what do you think would happen with law enforcement?>>

Unbelievable!!!!  It is disturbing to know that some liberals think it is fine for the government to target Obama's political enemies.

And the same thing goes with the wiretapping of the AP and Fox News.     If anyone thinks that all of these things are acceptable, they should really have their heads examined.
