(CNN) -- Sen. Barack Obama has picked Delaware Sen. Joe Biden to be his running mate, multiple Democratic sources tell CNN.

The longtime Democratic senator was long considered a likely choice for vice president, but the buzz surrounding him intensified after he returned earlier this week from a two-day trip to the Republic of Georgia after Russian troops invaded.

Biden, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, brings years of experience that could help counter GOP arguments that an Obama administration would be inexperienced on foreign policy.

I agree with Sue, interesting choice. Has positives and negatives. Yes, Biden has more experience. He's also made some pretty snarky comments that may come back to haunt him. Will be interesting to see now who McCain picks to try and balance things out!

Yeah really.

I think Obama would have had it if he chose Hilary. I wonder what made him chose Biden? And escpecially with the comments Joe Biden made about Obama and McCain. But, maybe he might balance out the ticket a little.

So, if McCain picks somebody with experience in economics, will that mean he is admitting (again) that economics is not his strong suit?
