That simply doesn't jive with an 80% approval rating.

I agree that approval ratings would be high because she was doing good things for the people of her state. However, isn't that her job as a governor?? I would expect the same of her as a vice president...to work for the good of the people whom she serves.

I'm not necessarily a fan of Palin. I'm all for learning more about this woman who has been largely here-to-for unknown. I was just pointing out that, had there been a true public outcry against a governor, she wouldn't have been able to sustain an approval rating above 80. Bush didn't even get that high during his highest times after 911. Clinton never got that high, to my knowledge. I mean, it's truly reflective of how accurately she worked for and represented her constituency.

No one can make everyone happy. I'm just pointing out that, even though Kilkenny is obviously in the 20%, her e-mail shouldn't be weighed more heavily than the majority of people who know Sarah Palin.

I'm sorry! I hope that didn't come off like I was challenging you. I truly wasn't. I completely understand where you're coming from. She's still quite an unknown to me.

I guess I was just thinking, while she was mayor of Wasilla and governor or Alaska, she did what she felt was best for her constituents. And she did it well. My hope would be that, were she to become the VP, she would still do what she felt was best for her constituents, which would switch from a small group of people from one state to a nation of people.

I think most Governors realize that they can't necessarily run the country the same way they ran their state. And, not only that, she wouldn't be running the country...yet. :)

I agree with you that she needs to be questioned. I'm very curious to see the VP debate. Very curious.

"And she did it well. "
Highly subjective.

Actually, based on a couple of families I have spoken with who live in Alaska, Sarah Palin's approval/popularity is primarily focused on her localized region of Alaska.

80% of the population doesn't live in Wasilla. She's very popular here in Fairbanks area as well. For what it's worth, the reason she and others are interested in moving the state capitol out of Juneau is that the rest of the state has to either fly or take a ferry to get there. It'd be nice to have easier access to the government for the majority of the population, however, it would be a blow to the Juneau area. At the present time, Anchorage is considered the spot for business, Fairbanks is the center of education and Juneau is the hub of government. As for the email, I'm sure the lady who wrote it feels that way, but I think her perception of how many people don't like Gov. Palin is tainted by her obvious dislike of the woman.

I have really wanted to hear from more Alaskans (particularly Alaskan moms) on these issues.
