I think the HIllary choice is a double edged sword. IN her nomination.....I never really supported her..for 2 reasons. I think she is far too devicive. You either love her or you hate her....and in an election such as this was..I don't think she would have won. Second reason....she carries all the good...and all of the bad of her husband with her. I don't think that is fair..but it is what it is.
She is a very good choice for Sec of State in that the Clintons had the goodwill of a lot of countries. Many people look on them with high regard and fondness.
She is a questionable choice due to the fact that Bill has been doing his own thing for a while now...and I have to wonder if that might hinder her nomination.
If they can get it all hammered out and such..I think she would be good choice in general. I think she is a commanding presence and can do the job well.
Please forgive me if that made little sense. I have a horrific head cold and a little one that is learning to walk. lol
I've discussed it on a different board, so I guess I didn't even notice that it hadn't been brought up here yet. I, personally, think it's a great decision. I guess I don't have much to say until I see how she does. I feel that way about all of Obama's appointments -- a wait-and-see kind of thing.
and with so much money at stake will they do what is best for the country or their pocketbook???
I could ask the same question of President Bush in re: to why we invaded Iraq instead of Saudi Arabia, when they are the ones who actually attacked us on 9/11. It is kind of curious that the Bushes and the Saudi Royal family have had decades of business interactions and personal ties, and yet when 15 of the 19 hijackers turned out to be Saudis, we did nothing about that.
Are you as concerned about that as you are about a possible Clinton conflict of interest?
ACtually no as it is too late to ask these questions as Bush will be out of office shortly......I am looking ahead and asking questions that are relevant now.
It's too late to ask those questions? Are you aware that this information came out years ago? I remember hearing about it prior to the 2004 election. Did you ask those questions then?
It seems strange to me that someone who is interested in a conflict of interest would let it pass by unquestioned when the President of the United States has a pretty obvious conflict of interest, one that allows him to divert us into an unjust war, and yet
I'm not all that worried about the conflict of interest (although I do agree that there is one) because number one I don't think she'll have enough power to really have it make a huge difference, and number two because I think at this point Bill is more of a partner and less of a husband, if that makes any sense.
