I know...I was lucky enough to go to a private school where the teachers were certified. Unfortunately I had cousins who could not attend my private school and had to attend another...they did not receive the same education because a majority of their teachers were not certified because the school could not afford to pay teachers who were certified. I commend anyone who wants to be a teacher...it can be a challenging but rewarding occupation and we need more people who would take the task of educating our future. I would just ask that they complete the required certification before doing this. I have a degree but I don't think that I can walk in a classroom today and teach social studies. Just my opinion...

Thanks:^)

By the same token I hope McCain if elected doesn't resort to that nasty fake grin & eye rolling if confronted by a foreign leader he disagrees with. That was childish.

They DO have to complete certification. He was way wrong about how Troops to Teachers works. As someone who looked into doing that program I can tell you that. TTT encourages those leaving active duty to become teachers HOWEVER you still have to complete the same certification as anyone else.. it just contains benefits to doing so.

isn't it rediculous!

childcare and mortgage are the 2 costs that are most impacted by location.

look at it this way though....when childcare costs ease (as the get older) it will be like hitting the lottery! :-)

the catch 22 sucks, i am quite familiar with the scenario.

No that WAS what he was talking about.. he was just mistaken about how it works.. I replayed it & make sure & it was the current TTT he was referring to.. just wrongly. :o)

ITA. I'm pretty sure he either misspoke or misunderstood the programs he was referring to. And I'm equally sure he's probably getting an earful about it (from said program and thousands of certified teachers) as we speak.

"...we can just put someone out there without certfication that is SCARY for our kids."

IMO, it's scary to think that

"It is right to be contented with what we have, but never with what we are."
