Given that I work here, I can't take a partisan stand, but I wanted to hear what you thought of the debate. The polls I've seen say that Kerry won hands down.

What do you mean you can't take a stand?

You can take a stand, you just have to be polite about it.

I didn't watch much of the debate.

Well, my opinion was that Kerry took every opportunity to slam our president even on issues where he himself was for the issue himself at the time....and the media was saying that Pres. Bush looked confused, but IMO, he looked very angry....which I don't blame him. Kerry was saying that Pres. Bush wasn't supplying certain things for our military and had cut spending....Kerry was one who voted TO cut the spending yet turned around and blamed the President for it...the President can't make those decisions by himself. It was a nasty debate...Kerry called the President a liar...in so many words...and tried to weasel out of it...I'm anxious to see the next debate this week. My husband is ex military and my son is military...there aren't very many military people I know who want Kerry as their commander in chief....My son wants to reinlist in March, yet is waiting to see who gets elected. Kerry is not supportive of our troops...to tell them "Hlp is on the way"is basically telling them they are not doing a very good job when in fact they are doing a wonderful job and they need our support. (If you watched the debate, you would know this is what he said.) Anyway...sorry to get started...the debate was like none I've ever seen. I hope the one later is better and more truthful...I was very disappointed with the debate.

Oh yeah, as far as winning the debate? Kerry is a far better "speaker" than Bush...most people are...that is one thing that Bush has never had going for him. But that's never been a secret...LOL! Kerry is a quick thinker and a quick talker whereas Bush tends to think things over and take his time answering, but I prefer that.

What Kerry is trying to say, when he says "help is on the way," is that he plans to get the soldiers out of harms way, not that they aren't doing a good job. I have to agree with him that we shouldn't be there in the first place. My brother faught in Iraq for 8 months last year so I do understand the stakes here. Again, he isn't saying anything bad about the soldiers themselves but rather about the policy decisions which have brought us here.

I do think Kerry "won" the debate. This election I am really on the fence, because my personal views are in line with Bush on a couple of subjects and in line with Kerry on a couple of other subjects. All of these issues are key to me, so I am really split. This election is not as cut and dried as some of the elections in
