After one last mention of the 'liberal media' today, I began to wonder. Is there a truly unbiased source of news out there somewhere?

The major networks all have their slants. CBS is liberal. FoxNews is conservative. The newspapers around here run to the very conservative. Magazines are taylored to their audiences for the most part. The more general ones I've looked at seem to be slightly more liberal.

So, the question is, how does one get unbiased news? Is it even possible to?

Fox news is not conservative. People think it is because the other side of the story gets told.

What the heck, I'll answer my own question.

I personally don't think there's a way to get unbiased news. In making my decision for the presidential election, I attended to two major things.

1. The candidates nomination speaches.

2. The debates.

I've tried my darndest to ignore the stump speaches, the spin on Bush's appearance in the first debate and on Kerry's comments about a world litmus test. I know that a single statement or expression can and will be taken out of context if it will help the campaign.

For my general daily news I check out NPR and the BBC and occasionally CNN or MSN during the day at work. I also scan both conservative and liberal weblogs when I have time. There's always some interesting tidbits there. If I see something that catches my attention (like the nuclear bunker-busting bombs, yikes!) I research it further.

So between my busy mom-schedule and work schedule, I think I do pretty well to keep informed. I certainly do better than my husband. He asked me the other day who I wanted him to vote for. What the heck!? I told him to make his own decision.

So you're saying the Fox News is an unbiased source of news?

My question wasn't whether Fox News was conservative or not. My question is how do you get unbiased news?

Carrie let me politely suggest that you take the time to not only read what she posted but digest it as well.
