With just a week to go, many will say the national election is buttoned up.

Is it medical marijuana, or all mary jane?

possession of an ounce or less, for any reason whatsoever, will be a civil penalty only - $100 fine

That's a great idea. It would clear up so much jail space and increase revenue to the state without raising taxes. I have always felt that pot should be legal.

That's not really "legalizing" as much as making it a misdemeanor, right?

We have two issues here that are getting a lot of air time.

Exactly - decriminalizing it...

I think this is a decent middle ground - keeps a lid on dealers, but doesn't wreck the life of a casual user or tie up the courts.

Heads up!! In CA we have legal medical marijuana and the feds have been known to arrent people who are perfectly within the state laws on this issue because it isn't legal at the federal level.

You might find the DEA is unwilling to let you decriminalize entirely.

And sometimes the feds "force" local law enforcement assist with raids and enforcement of these laws, even though the individuals are not breaking laws within the state.

Fortunately, I don't partake, so I really won't be affected personally.
