In CA, we are about to vote on a constitutional amendment on whether marriage should be defined as between a man and woman.

Honestly, my thinking is that a civil union is simply a contract that is entered into, and should be legal as long as both (or all) parties are legally able to enter into the contract.

When you ask the government to redefine marriage, it extends into that venue, that religious-dominated spectrum that I am not sure government really needs to be involved in.

No legal rights occur in the US as a result of religious marriage.
