The Marriage Debate: How far????

In CA, we are about to vote on a constitutional amendment on whether marriage should be defined as between a man and woman.

And my church marries same sex couples -- well, after they go through "Bryan's 20 difficult questions" counseling sessions with our minister, just as opposite sex couple must do before he will marry them.
And now that same sex is legal in California the government is no longer making such definitons.
Personally, I'm all for taking the word Marriage out of the government period. It should be Civil Unions all around the board via the legal documents and Marriage should be reserved for the couple's own church of choice to draw up paperwork. Civil Unions work.. you get the same rights as married couples do now and it's less inflammatory. Think about common law marriage in some states... same idea.. they get the same rights as those who went through the whole process so why not keep it civil unions for all couples, gay or straight and leave the word marriage to the church.

I would call that a marriage, because that fits my own faith-based definition of what marriage is.

If anyone can clarify this, please do.
Do you make it a habit to basically write whatever you think and then say that the person you're addressing actually said it?
Hey, I haven't been overly happy over the past year and a half of my life.
