Maybe this should be in personal discussions, but I think it's a wider issue.


I have a cousin that is 32. He recently proposed to his girlfriend, who is 33. He holds down a job, pays his bills, as does she. They found out if they get married they loose everything. Why you ask? Because they both have Downs Syndrome.

Yes, sorry, they loose their housing, their insurance.

Under current law, people with mental disabilities (as with any disability) have the same protection under the law enjoyed by non disabled people.

I know older ladies loose their husbands pention if they get married. Would it be because their combined income means they make too much??
