Obama raps McCain for ignorance of his own houses
WASHINGTON - John McCain may have created his own housing crisis.
Hours after a report that the Republican presidential nominee-in-waiting didn't know how many homes he and his multimillionaire wife own, Democratic rival Barack Obama launched a national TV ad and a series of campaign stops aimed at portraying McCain as wealthy and out of touch.
With the economy the top issue in the race, Obama sought to turn McCain's gaffe into one of those symbolic moments that stick in voters' minds

>>A lot of men aren't going to know about arugula, if they don't cook or watch Food network.<<
Let's just say that's true--not that I think Barack Obama spends a lot of time cooking or watching the food network.
>>Just b/c Obama mentions arugula at whole foods he is an elitist?<<
Now if you agree that most men aren't going to know about arugula and you do well relating to "most men" why would you mention "Arugula" when addressing a forum of farmers (mostly men) in the state of Iowa where are no Whole Foods stores? The comment fell flat as it was lost on the audience and thus Mr. Obama quickly changed the conversation because he recognized his faux paus after uttering the words.
So maybe not "elitist" but certainly a tad bit out of touch with the common man wouldn't you say?
To then try to imply that Senator McCain is an elitist when he came by his wealth later at a later age than Obama is now--is in poor taste. I wonder how McCain's income looked when he was Senator Obama's age?
The whole thing is really silly IMO.
McCain married into wealth and Obama earned his by being a Harvard educated Lawyer married to the same.
Did I say that the war should excuse his actions?

There were other circumstances to consider.
Doesn't seem to matter.
