Obama raps McCain for ignorance of his own houses

WASHINGTON - John McCain may have created his own housing crisis.

Hours after a report that the Republican presidential nominee-in-waiting didn't know how many homes he and his multimillionaire wife own, Democratic rival Barack Obama launched a national TV ad and a series of campaign stops aimed at portraying McCain as wealthy and out of touch.

With the economy the top issue in the race, Obama sought to turn McCain's gaffe into one of those symbolic moments that stick in voters' minds

LOL! I never doubted HE BELIEVES what he's saying.

I just believe he's mistaken.

I don't believe just anyone can get into the military. They've learned their lessons with lowering standards. They may have loosened up things a bit in some areas but it's very minimal.

I also don't believe as someone else suggested that being from a military officer background equals being elite. But anything to denigrate John McCain I guess!

Obama went to expensive private schools his entire life and though he did live with grandparents......someone was supporting him and his private education.

My children will go to private schools too, but we are far from wealthy, in fact that is funny to even think. We just want them to get the best education possible, and for us that means private. We could move out to the sprawl, I mean suburbs, but that is just not for us. Plus, Obama had to have student loans like most of us "regular folks", not to mention he chose to work with the poor in Chicago over a corporate law firm where the big $$$ are, that is why he was only able to pay off his loans after becoming a successful politician and getting a book deal. About the arugala comment, my DH knows what it is, he likes eating it, and would probably know how much it costs at the store, to quote my DH, "that just means he eats salad" does that make someone elite all of the sudden?

***and though he did live with grandparents......someone was supporting him and his private education. *** So if you have parents or other guardians caring for you as a child that makes you elite and unable to relate to the common man??? That's a new one.

delphine, McCain isn't simply a "military officer" - he comes from a family with several generations of admirals and academy graduates.

On the outside world, that's the equivalent of having parents and grandparents who are senior executives in a large corporation.
