They are in a position to look out for themselves.
I disagree with you, but I'm pretty sure
"I think you should get to spend your money on your fertility if you so value it more than spending it on starving children."
You're making assumptions again.

Yes, do you really have a problem with that? Yes, I think the strong should look out for the weak, the powerful should look out for the powerless, and yes that those with much should look out for those with little. And of course that is the reverse of the "me, me, me" that the democrats are complaining about.
---------------------------------------------
I don't have a problem with the strong looking out for the weak. I don't have a problem with the powerful looking out for the powerless. I don't have a problem with those with much looking out for those with little. If you'll look at the sum total of my posts, you'll see that I very, very, very much believe in these principles. In fact, I believe that we'll always be able to find some who has less than us, and I think we should help them.
What I have a problem with is demanding this out of a person. What I have a problem with is allowing those with less to remain in that position (and even work/make decisions to stay in that position) in order to continue to receive help from those with more. What I have a problem with is the people who have less always claiming the "receiving" position, instead of doing their part to also help with the "giving" position.
I think we should all be doing our part. I think we should all be helping each other. That's why I get upset when all of the burden is put on one group alone.
I don't have much. Many would say that I don't have enough to help other people. Many would say that, when I was making $20,000/year, I was in the category of "those who have less." However, I had plenty to take care of myself, as long as I made wise decisions. I even had enough to help those around me that needed help. I didn't sit on my bum and wait for someone to help me, just because I had less than them.

So, why do you think it is fair to pay more under McCain's plan
Hi Lindsay,
I totally understand your point of view.
Just in case you are still reading. I appreciate your contribution.
>>Most of the people who are in that receiving position are the disabled. The dole that these people are receiving is $637/month. Yes this is the free rides a wopping $7644/month, of course they also receive medicaid. I have a disabled son who is on this program. He is an a sort of monitored housing situation. His prescription cost are massive. If he goes off his medication he becomes dagerous. The SSI description of disability is one that is so severe that it precludes work activity. He would not be a suitable employee for anyone.
Remeber Sarah Palin's disabled child, if he live to age 18 will be on SSI. He will never be able to do meaningful work (how often do you see Downs children in the workplace, generally only sheltered workshops.) He will have have massive medical expenses. Downs children have lots of thing wrong with them and do not live very long lives. They are some of the easier to care for disabled. Autistic children are more difficult. They are so difficult that 80% of marriage where there is an autistic child end in divorce. These are the freeloaders that make you so dam angry. These are the benefits that conservative are trying so hard to cut. How sad! How pathetic!
What kind of career should someone who is not toilet trained pursue?
Where should a person who wears a helmet, because of head banging apply for a job?
What part in the giving process should cerebral palsy kid play who are confined to a wheel chair and cannot talk?
<"We spend more on healtcare than any other country and we have some of the worst statistics. Our infant mortality rate is disgraceful. This country mandates car insurance. What is the mentality behind that? Part of the reason is to protect others in that accident. I often view our medical insurance the same way. So if it costs me some to make sure people are insured to protect me long term, I'm open to exploring this. When it comes to healthcare costs right now, we ARE paying for everybody else on top of perpetuating a system where people are less healthy with chronic illness. So why not find a way to cust those costs? They only other alternative I see is to deny care completely. I can't stand the thought of that although I am sure there are some that could. This is not a community I personally want to be a part of.">
You make a really good point about car insurance. That's a great analogy. We pay higher premiums because of uninsured drivers.
I work in medicine, and the one thing that always baffles me is, how people think that those without insurance are the only ones affected? If they get sick and can't seek care, others get sick as well, because disease spreads and knows no economic or social boundaries. A good example of this would be someone who couldn't afford their HIV medication regimen, or antibiotics for TB. Then they become increasingly infectious, and all of us are at risk. The same goes for vaccines. I realize this is looking at the whole issue from the SELFISH perspective of "let's protect me, me, me and my, my, my interests" but let's be consistent here!
Let me just say that a universal health plan would affect MY SALARY DIRECTLY as a medical provider. But the health care/health insurance situation in this country is so bad that we really need to examine this issue more closely.
If education is a "right" in this country why isn't good health?
You stated "Health insurance is making American uncompetitive and Americans are losing jobs as companies move their jobs out of the US."
I am just curious...is it the cost of health care or understanding heath care benefits that is the real question?
someone you know needs a good giggle today
