Have to chime in here... I've painstakingly read all the posts up to this point:
Obama has been a US Senator for four years. Is that not experience? He was RIGHT on Iraq from the beginning. Showing the ability to make sound judgement even when emotions ran high to "do something, anything" in response to 9/11. He has run a historic campaign for the last 18 months, stirring the country to new hope and looking toward the future. Voter turnout is at an all time high. He is a Christian, he is a father, he is extremely intelligent (President of the Harvard Law Review) and he is a public servant. He is FOR women's rights, he is FOR protecting the environment, he is AGAINST prejudice and discrimination, he if FOR government helping the poor, sick, helpless. I could go on but here are my questions about Palin...
She is against a woman's right to choose, she wants to re-start aerial shooting of wolves, she doesn't want to protect Polar Bears (completely disregarding science), doesn't believe in global warming as a Human issue, she wants to drill in the artic wilderness reserve, wants to teach creationism in schools, is this good for the US???
(FYI, I am a Christian woman and a republican....)
Yeah, I can see where 180 days in the "do nothing" senate is definetly more experience than a year and half as govonor, 4 years in the city coucil, and 3 years as govonor. Yeah, Obama is DEFINETLY more experienced, well of not compared to Gov Palin, but maybe to a local college student.
And also, you people should really do more research about a candidate before putting your fingers to the keyboard. She did not go to some unkown school in Iowa. She went to a very WELL known school Called the University of Idaho. We have turned out many great and important people from that University. And by the way, it is a VERY LIBERAL school. So, I think it really says something about her to come out of that school still standing tall with her own political POVs.
And also, you must live in a cardboard box to not have at least heard her name. WOW! She has been all over the news since the whole gas crisis thing came up. And ever since thtalk of McCain chossing a VP her name has been on the short list. It just goes to show that when you have your mind set on a political party it is stuck there. Broaden your horizons and research all points on a matter.
And I think that liberals did not want people to see sex. I thought that Hillary Clintons run for the presidency was supposed to have broken down these barriers. We did have womens lib right? Am I wrong? I thought it was now okay for a woman to have a job, vote, or even run in elections.
I say, smart pick she is the right person for the job and I am excited to see her debate Biden, she will do a great job.
On good, you know her well.
Hmmmm... since you bring up the subject of education - she has what? a bachelors degree in journalism??
I'm I the only one who doesn't want a VP who sounds like she could be me?
I'm not competent to run this nation.
I agree with you, Rose.

I disagree with you, but I'm pretty sure

Well, I guess we can call going from a President you'd like to have a beer with to a VP you'd like to have coffee with a change.
I disagree with you, but I'm pretty sure
I had to respond - I am a woman and a democrat and a Hillary supporter. I do not think McCain picking Palin makes the democrats look like the party that wouldn't pick a woman - using the same argument perhaps the republicans look like the party that wouldn't choose a minorty????
More than anything else I think McCain's pick looks like political pandering. Include the fact that his first two wives were former models and his vp pick a former beauty queen and you have to question what a woman has to do to be noticed by him. Frankly it angered me more than anything else. I'm not saying you can't ever be a model or a beauty pagent participant and still have something to offer - but seriously - it looks like McCain is looking for a trophy vp. Just another old man that wants a younger pretty companion.
"Alaska lacks urban poor (urban period for that matter), lacks major agricultural issues, lacks budget worries."
Oh good....you returned the favor of making me laugh (and have coffee come out of my nose)....you really can't be serious, right?
