Ok, I admit I haven't seen definitive proof on the 6000 year old thing.

My comment about prejudice was taken from your comment on his ethnicity...which really wasn't relevant, so I can only assume it was motivated by prejudice.

I certainly wouldn't accept something like that, just as I disregarded the circulated e-mail bashing Sarah Palin when her candidacy was first announced. However, Palin's own answers to questions in interviews do not fall under the umbrella of things that should be disregarded. In fact, since she has done so few interviews or nonscripted public appearances, public opinion does, understandably, hang on one or two bad interviews. Based on those interviews and the FACT that she has lied (bridge to nowhere) - I do question her suitability as the 2nd in command.

Has Biden made some embarassing gaffes? Sure! He's put his foot in his mouth a time or two during this election. Does that instill confidence in me - not really, but he also has had plenty of interviews where he's done a fine/good job. Right or wrong, because he's not afraid to speak to interviewers and the public, his gaffes become less impactful. For instance - if you are taking a course in, let's say, economics and you have three graded assignments and you fail two - your ship is sunk! However, if you have twenty assignments and you fail two - you've still got at least a 90%. That's a bit of an oversimplification, but hopefully you see my point. When you have fewer chances to perform - each one counts more.

Anywho, I do believe that this was a hasty decision on McCain's part and it does not instill confidence in me that he will give decisions the thought and consideration they deserve if he becomes POTUS. My husband is much more moderate than me and he LOVED McCain in 2000. Loved him. When he found out that he was running again, he was pumped about it. But that all changed (for him) when McCain basically flip-flopped on the issues he stood for in 2000, employed the detested Bush slime machine that he himself decried in 2000, and then picked Palin, who we (my husband and I) agree was a "shooting-from-the-hip" kind of decision.
