Military families support Obama
| Thu, 09-18-2008 - 1:15am |
Veterans and military families received a lot of praise and attention at the recent Democratic National Convention, and for good reason.
After six years of war on two different fronts, perhaps no group of citizens is more directly affected by the decisions and judgment of this administration. Soldiers and Marines in core infantry units are in their second or third deployments, with others heading out for their fourth, fifth or sixth. Our military families are increasingly suffering from their own combat stress, having borne the burden of current conflicts with little shared sacrifice or attention.

I'm not here to get into a debate with anyone regarding which candidate soldiers support more but I wanted to pass along a link to a blog I think you may enjoy. The blog was created by some guys my husband served with in Iraq. And yes, they do support Obama.

I never said they did.
Since upwards of 95%+ of black voters support Obama and the military has greater percentage of black members than the general population it would be interesting to see how the black military veterans are leaning.
But also being quite close to the military community I can also say most the larger majority are McCain supporters. Maybe it's because they're more aware of the true nature of the "threat" than your average Joe Citizen.
Actually, delphine, that's somewhat of a myth.
Sorry. I meant "Army". In anycase, the statement couldn't be called a myth based on your chart which I do wish I could read better!
In addition I was talking about total population...not merely "recruits".

I really don't think there's any way any of us can guess what those in the military will overall vote and who they will support.
Obviously there are many who support Obama, and many who support McCain.
