How about Joe Miller, tea party candidate in AK, griping about people relying on unemployment insurance, all the while his very own wife collected it. Hmmmmmmm.......

I have no issue with anyone collecting unemployment if one, they paid in and met those requirements and two it doesn't go beyond the 26 weeks it was meant to be.
If people that have a larger income are not supposed to get unemployment when they lose their jobs, they shouldn't have to pay for it in the first place.

Opal - I think if an employer pays the unemployment then the employee has already paid by way of their employer paying in. We had to pay for our nanny and that affected the pay we gave her when we considered her salary. I do believe the 26 weeks is what the program was meant to be. 99 has never been done, even with the Great Depression.

Oh, now they're showing. Funny how I didn't do a thing differently. I wonder if this is temporary or random or what.....it's a great technique to encourge people to run off and go elsewhere! I have to give them that.

Just because she collected it doesn't mean she "relied on it". Who wouldn't take a benefit they were entitled to? Not many people forgo their social security benefits either but look at them as finally getting sometihng for the time they were involuntarily forced to contribute. So go Joe Miller...he obviously gets it!
