I posted this on one of my other boards a couple of days ago. I think this story is ridiculous! I personally take my child with me...no matter where I go. If I were going to pay for gas...he'd be with me. BUT you can't fault a mom for doing something like this lady did.

I think the amount of time, money and energy that has been spent on this is crazy! We've got to have common sense in this country!

On the surface it does sound ridiculous.

She will probably be let go with a warning once it gets to the judge. It is a serious waste of time and money by the police department if the story is true as she recounts it.

I accidentally locked my dd in the car once when she was a tiny baby. I had a diaper bag and groceries in my one arm, a set of keys in the other. I somehow dropped the keys in the car as I was trying to pick up the baby carrier. As I let go of the carrier to get the keys, the door shut as the diaper bag somehow hit the door. I still cannot figure out how it all went down. I was in too blind of a panic when I realized what happened. I immediately called the police to get her out.

I wonder if I would have been arrested according to that officer for leaving my child in the car. LOL. At the time, I didn't find it funny because I thought she would sufficate before they got her out. I was actually trying to break the back window when they finally arrived.

Depends on whether it actually happened as she says.

Well, my son's ex Gf left my 9 yr old grandson home alone in the apartment they had just moved into the day before while she took his younger brother to see her DH at work. She was gone for at least an hour. This was at night after dark, like from 8:30-9:30. thing of it is, she only said 2 weeks before she was going to divorce this guy. She moved him in 2 days later, and threatened consequences to my grandson if he told anybody. My son is hoping to get physical custody of our grandson. There is a ton of stuff i wouldn't have the time to mention.

I think it's against the law here to leave a kid under the age of 12 alone.
