Julie, I think you are quite eloquent. :-) I just wanted to say that it is unfair for the upper 5% to be vilified as selfish, and I know I have tried to avoid doing so. I got involved on the board because of the vilification going the other way: some posts have made the lower and middle class out to be a bunch of lazy entitled vampires just salivating at the chance to take your hard-earned cash from you. Its silly and unfair from both ends.
Also, a side point. I think its interesting that you don't "feel" wealthy, and I mean interesting as a psychological phenomenon that is really common, not as in I think you're weird. Our perception of wealth is very relative. As long as there are people you can perceive as wealthier than you (like Oprah, Bill Gates, etc), then its hard to think of yourself as wealthy. Plus, I think we associate "wealthy" with "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous." So how should we define what "wealthy" means? I have no idea, to be honest!
