I doubt ANY political candidate has been or ever will be innocent of having issues surface in their personal past, their campaign, or their political history. I also believe they will stop at nothing to win - to run for a public office of that magnitude you need determination, guts, and no fear - all things that add up to an ego that won't quit. If you don't have the "I'm the best for this job" ego, you won't get very far with people running against you that HAVE that mindset - look at the "nice guys" Mike Huckabee, John Edwards, even Mitt Romney fits in this category. There have been a few that have made it to the White House, but look at their pre-election competitors and you'll see why they won out.
I have a feeling this volunteer was misunderstanding the Muslim culture, and worrying that they aren't supposed to be photographed, since so many of the women fight having even their drivers' license photo taken... There are actually many cultures that wear the head scarves, and many are far more strict than Muslim, so this volunteer may have misinterpreted the significance of the headdress or even was just carrying out what someone else told him/her to do!
This presidential race has become more of a soap opera than an election, and we've unfortunately had to bear far too many ads, articles, TV news stories, tabloid publications, etc. already - and the actual election isn't for months! I fear if they don't just back off, a lot of Americans will either be so ticked off and tired of hearing about them or so totally confused they won't bother voting at all!
Personally, I don't feel like voting for any candidate that falls into a political debate-turned elementary school playground battle. The candidates that act so childishly, and in public - on TV, in front of a nation of people wanting answers, not arguments - don't deserve to be called President of the United States - they can't even unite their political party. I'll freely admit I'm more democratic than republican, but I don't like the attitude of ANY candidate that's been left standing for the last 6 months or so.
It's upsetting that people get moved from their seats for any reason, but I think the rest of the country taking sides and picking this apart is making the US look childish and foolish and tabloid-minded, thinking the worst of everyone unless proven otherwise - and even then the damage is already done...
Just my 2¢, take it with a grain of salt. Just remember that if you were in that situation, and wanted to portray a certain image to the constituents - trying to have a cross-section of ethnic groups covered in those seen with you, be it morally and ethically a good idea or not - you would do whatever it took to win. And if it were your job to make sure that everyone that should be seen IS seen for the candidate you believe so much in you work for free to help out, you'll do anything to give them what they want so as maybe to get recognition for it later. We're humans, all selfish creatures in the end - looking for our own gratification.
Why do bouncers outside hip clubs let pretty, skinny girls in and make fat moms like me sit outside and WISH I were my high school cheerleader body again? It's all in the image you want to portray... That's politics, that's life in America - the land of the free, where everything has a price...
