The state legislature of Hawaii is considering a proposed bill to ban the sale of toy guns to minors. It carries with it a $2000 fine.

Here is a link.

Arent we going just a little too far with even having this up for consideration?

Hawaii is a very laid back, peaceful place (for the most part). I am not sure it will pass but they are welcome to try.

It's not happening in my state, so what do I care? Not surprising that you would try to turn this into me wanting the state to make my decisions. Knock it off.

This offers me very little surprise.

To some, individual liberty and responsibility are paramount.

Others prefer to have the state make their decisions.

I agree. This is going too far. Toy guns don't have any potential for harm.

The real culprit is the far too ready access to high-powered and automatic/semi-automatic firearms. But the Hawaiian state leaders might not have the will or courage to tackle powerful gun lobby groups like the NRA.

So the "nanny state" epithet might be valid for me too but not in a way with which you would probably agree.

It doesn't bother me. Hawaii can do what it chooses to do. States rights and all that.
