Obama and no Checks & Balances

Is anyone else worried that Obama probably will win the presidency, the Democrats very likely will have control over both houses of Congress, and there might be enough votes to break the filibuster? I would be OK if one or two of these factors happened, but not all three. We will have no Checks & Balances. I would feel this way whether the Republicans or the Democrats had power. No party ever should be this dominant and have this much power. Is anyone else worried about the potential loss of our Checks & Balances?

As much as I hate to say it (since I am from Nevada), I think that Harry Reid needs to go as the Senate Majority leader.

Yeah, I think that if this presidential election wasnt going on, and they didn't "have" to paint Obama as the "most liberal", there would be other individuals in both the house and senate that are much more problematic to the Republicans than Obama.

I've wondered the same thing about Pelosi myself.

We've been losing our system of checks and balances for the last 8 years with the Executive usurping more and more power.

I understand what your saying. I just want to mention that I think the Republicans had too much power when they had the presidency and congress. That's part of the reason things are what they are today. As I mentioned in my previous post, I would feel this way whether it was the Republicans or the Democrats about to win the presidency, congress, etc.. Any politician running for office obviously wants his/her party to dominate. Most politicians love power and they do not want a big fight when they try to get a bill passed. However, as a citizen I find it troubling that either party is about to have so much power. I am especially worried that there might be enough votes to break the filibuster.

It just seems that in recent history at least, balance equals gridlock.
