I wasn't saying he said that in his most recent speech.

But you have no evidence that this minister said nothing but "garbage" for 20 years.

Um, have to interject - because I haven't been around for too long, and I've seen it.

You know, no matter how many times you claim he said his grandmother was a racist, it still won't be true.

Once again, for those who actually wish to know what Obama said, rather than what someone who has been clear about her dislike for him would like you to believe he said....

>>I can no more disown him than I can disown the black community. I can no more disown him than I can my white grandmother – a woman who helped raise me, a woman who sacrificed again and again for me, a woman who loves me as much as she loves anything in this world, but a woman who once confessed her fear of black men who passed by her on the street, and who on more than one occasion has uttered racial or ethnic stereotypes that made me cringe.

These people are a part of me. And they are a part of America, this country that I love.>>

Race is a complex issue, reducing it to soundbites and simplistic statements reflects a lack of understanding of nuance, of complexity and of race in America.

Not to mention that he managed to take a couple potshots at Hillary...not that I'm defending her...

Just that if he really is all about change, just apologize, make it right and move on. Don't play the game, that's just perpetuating the stereotype. (of politicians).

I certainly agree with you there.

Didn't say his grandmother was racist? Are you serious?

He talked about how she got nervous if a black man passed her on the street and he said that she has used slurs when talking about black people.

I don't know about you, but if I used a racial slur...I'd be labeled a racist. I have no doubt about that.

I personally doubt the woman WAS racist...but he certainly made it sound like she was!!! It was just another 'example' of loving someone, but not agreeing with what they say. Instead of faulting Wright...and being done with it...he felt the need to push grandma in front of the bus to make a point.

That's some character your candidate has!

>>>Race is a complex issue, reducing it to soundbites and simplistic statements reflects a lack of understanding of nuance, of complexity and of race in America.

You keep saying we're reducing this to soundbites. This was not an interview where the editor could pick-n-choose what parts to air (to better suit his agenda). This was a MINISTER (I use the term very loosely) who spewed hate and vile words from the pulpit. And was obviously very proud of himself, or else WHY would those hateful words be placed on a dvd for sale from the church?!?!

There is nothing to take out of context there.

There is no lack of understanding of nuance...I promise you that.
