I do think that people are taking a pause in their enthusiasm for Senator Obama. I am not sure that is a bad thing, since I prefer people to vote with their intellect and not their hearts. Still, there is a long time to the convention and anything could happen.
I do feel the need to weigh in on this conversation, not just in response to anything you have said. I belong to a fellowship which I believe to have saved my life. I joined this fellowship 18+ years ago, of my own free will. I chose a sponsor to guide me through the intricasies of the program. My sponsor has gone bankrupt twice, finds loopholes in laws to suit her purposes, has raised 3 very poorly adjusted children to adulthood. I do not like these things about her, and disagree with her methods on business and childrearing. She sometimes gives me advice on these things, and I ignore them. Still, I need her even today to maintain the life I have built in the last 18+ years.
Sounds a little too analogous for me. That 'first stone' thing is hitting me in the face.
Is she running for President? Is she a racist? I'd guess no and no....so it's not even a fair analogy to the topic.
Understandable, but not even close to fair. It's one thing to have a mentor whose parenting choices and such you disagree with. Quite another to have a mentor who is apparently fairly well known as a racist....
I think this latest issue w/ Obama is just the tip of the iceberg. I have a feeling there's going to be more we're going to find out as this goes on.
Is a person a racist for reacting to racism? I am not being a brat asking that, it is one of those questions I struggle with myself. Sometimes I say "HECK YEAH" and other times "NO."
I really wish that, for myself, the world had less gray.
I have to wonder what people outside California knew about Ronald Regan or Richard Nixon prior to their running for president -- in neither case where they even Senators with the possiblity of sponsoring legislation that would be noticed by others, but simply Governors.
Thanks, some of the oddest people have had profound influences on my life.
One was a Catholic priest, principal of my high school. He helped my family in numerous ways, but has also pled guilty to being a pedaphile. His destruction of their lives co-exists with the positive influence he had on mine. I can deplore his actions, and wish him punished, but at the same time, be grateful for what he did for me.
Like I said in my other post...too much gray in my life....

Obama hasn't lost ground after this.
