This is the alleged text of an attack ad put together by McCain supporters to run soonon TV or radio.

"It's tragic, but true. Two-thirds of all prisoners convicted of rape or sexual assault committed their crime against a child. Even worse, the average child predator exploits seven to two hundred victims in their lifetime. In the Illinois Senate, Barack Obama was the only member that voted to allow early release for convicted sexual abusers."

NPR, BTW, is a left-leaning taxpayer-funded organization

Has Obama really voted on any crime legislation in the manner described above?

Willie Horton. Wouldn't it be nice if candidates stuck to what THEY were going to do rather than run desperation attack ads? Not very mavericky is it?

Mr. Obama was the only member of the state Senate to vote against a bill to prohibit the early release of convicted criminal sexual abusers; and was among only four who voted against bills to toughen criminal sentences, increase penalties for criminals whose offenses were committed in the furtherance of gang activities, and increase penalties for the delivery of Ecstasy and other designer drugs.

there's actually a lot of interesting votes in this article ... some were 'present' votes only.

It's funny how he has all of these 'present' votes. Most of the issues, like this one, where he actually took a stand, I completely disagree with him.

We've already had the conversation regarding nicknames so please stop calling Obama "Obomber". TIA

You might want to review the TOS violations - my response was indicative of the disgust I feel towards the general disintegration of the republican campaign and its use of smear tactics reminiscent of the infamous Willie Horton ads. That you don't agree with me is certainly your prerogative, but to call me shallow crosses the bounds. That you insist on referring to Obama in a derogatory manner is further indication that my suspicions with regards to the intellectual capacity that is indicated are correct. Perhaps it is time for me to use the ignore feature - life is too short to allow all of this negative Karma into my otherwise peaceful existence.
