Obama the tax shifter, not tax cutter

When Ed Rendell became governor of Pennsylvania, he promised tax cuts very similar to what Obama promises. What he gave Pennsylvanians was a tax shift. While he cut the state's income tax, he also raised taxes in other categories to make up the difference in state revenues. What Pennsylvania ended up with was a tax cut con. Pennsylvanians ended up with tax increases instead of a tax cut. Obama is going to do the same thing Rendell has done. Obama will certainly increase other taxes, which means we won't be getting a tax cut, but a tax shift.

The bottom line is this: Whenever a Democrat promises to give you a tax cut, they're actually giving you a tax shift, which overall amounts to a tax increase. It's kind of like political bait and switch. Obama is just a con man.

Why does Obama want to keep the Bush tax cuts if his tax cuts are better?

Obama would reinstitute the windfall profits tax, which almost bankrupted the oil industry back in the 1980's. Congress repealed it in 1988 because of that.

Obama wants to reintroduce the capital gains tax, not quite qt the 28% level previously stated, but somewhere between 20% and 28% according to Obama.

Obama wants to raise social security taxes.

More on Obama's tax cuts and tax increases in general:

My point is that the BO man, aka, Obama, is a LIAR!!! The articles prove it. He's giving no one a cut, he's giving everyone a tax increase by shifting the tax burden. Where do you get that BO man is only going to raise taxes on 2% of the people? If 95% of the people are going to get a tax cut, then those two figures only account for 97%. What about the missing 3%? What do they get? The BO man's math must be similar to the "Million Man Math" of the Nation of Islam.

What the BO man's tax cut amounts to is a new stimulus package, not a real tax cut.

All this talk about McCain raising taxes on health insurance is smoke and mirrors, especially when you look at all the taxes BO man wants to raise across the board to offset his "tax cuts." The BO man wants to raise social security taxes, windfall profits taxes, and corporate taxes. This will kill jobs, hurt our already fragile economy, and raise the cost of goods and services across the board.

Obama, aka, the BO man, is full of baloney gravy. If his tax plan is so great, why does he want to keep the Bush tax cuts in place until after the economy recovers? Obama himself has said this. Read the articles I've linked to, and you'll find out the truth. What the BO man has said on his website is totally different from what he's actually said.

It has been requested numerous times for you to stop your derogatory "nickname" for Sen. Obama.

I think YOU should read the book before accepting the word of Liberal academia nuts as the gospel truth.

I think it is a bad thing. I don't think the rich should pay a higher percentage of taxes on their income. I think everyone should pay the same percent. I do, however, think loopholes could be eliminated.

BTW, I am lower-middle class and our family is one that doesn't pay Federal Income Tax, after our tax credits we don't owe anything. Obama never seems to mention that some of those 95% that are getting tax cuts don't even pay now under the current administration.

(edited to take out percentages they may be inaccurate)

I'm familiar with Obama's plans for new spending. I'm not happy about increased taxes, but if he is unable to cut spending in other places to pay for the new spending, I still support him.

Where in Obama's plan for America have you seen he is going to cut any type of government spending? He hasn't proposed any spending cuts. He hasn't even talked about any cuts in government spending. Obama is nothing but smoke and mirrors.

I think that certain things, such as healthcare are very important.

It's so important that you think we need to create a brand new government program for it that we can't afford to pay for right now? You think it's so important that you're willing to bankrupt the federal government, and the health care industry all in one sitting with the implementation of the BO man's phony plan?

I agree that our economy is in peril. I think that McCain will destroy it.

I know how the BO man will destroy the economy. How will McCain destroy the economy?

I know what Ed Rendell did to my state. We Pennsylvanians live the reality of it every day. The reality of the situation here in Pennsylvania is quite different from the lactose intolerant peptic moo cow propaganda Ed Rendell's office releases to the public. Jobs are leaving Pennsylvania in droves, the slot revenue only provides $200 of property tax relief on the average to elderly homeowners, and Rendell has created new taxes to offset the taxes he claims he cut. Those aren't tax cuts, they're tax shifts. And Rendell's tax shifts have helped to make basic necessities more expensive for every Pennsylvanian. Now, unless YOU live in Pennsylvania, I suggest YOU stop trying to tell ME what's going on here.
