Obama the tax shifter, not tax cutter

When Ed Rendell became governor of Pennsylvania, he promised tax cuts very similar to what Obama promises. What he gave Pennsylvanians was a tax shift. While he cut the state's income tax, he also raised taxes in other categories to make up the difference in state revenues. What Pennsylvania ended up with was a tax cut con. Pennsylvanians ended up with tax increases instead of a tax cut. Obama is going to do the same thing Rendell has done. Obama will certainly increase other taxes, which means we won't be getting a tax cut, but a tax shift.

The bottom line is this: Whenever a Democrat promises to give you a tax cut, they're actually giving you a tax shift, which overall amounts to a tax increase. It's kind of like political bait and switch. Obama is just a con man.

Why does Obama want to keep the Bush tax cuts if his tax cuts are better?

Obama would reinstitute the windfall profits tax, which almost bankrupted the oil industry back in the 1980's. Congress repealed it in 1988 because of that.

Obama wants to reintroduce the capital gains tax, not quite qt the 28% level previously stated, but somewhere between 20% and 28% according to Obama.

Obama wants to raise social security taxes.

Just so you know, this was posted by the CL awhile back:

For those who are new here are a few board rules that I can remind you of.......

1. Candidates and the Pres are called by their correct name. Name calling went out in school and your debates are not credible if you call them names.

2. You can back up you posts with facts if you choose....but many times I know that people don't have the time. Opinions are also welcome to be shared as well.

3. Be respectfull and talk about the issues.....not the other posters.

4. Review the TOS and the rules of play for this board BEFORE you post....that way you you will know what is and isn't acceptable to post. http://messageboards.ivillage.com/n/mb/message.asp?webtag=iv-psmomspol&msg=3625.1&ctx=0

5. Violations of TOS and Rules of play, and SPAM will be reported to iVillage. Any person can report violations and questionable posts by clicking on report a violation at the bottom of each and every post. Members are encouraged to report violations so that posts that that are violations can be removed quickly before they cause damage to the moral of the board.

6. The ignore button is a wonderful feature and you are encouraged to use it if you are becoming frustrated by a poster. You can do this by clicking on ignore posts on a post made by that poster (it is on the bad to the side of the post.....under the posters name and avatar. You can also click on their member name and click ignore posts. If later you want to reinstate them go to board settings, friends, and click next to the ignored name....then submit.

You are right there is no iVillage law for these things....but these are things that people will do in a debate.

I suggest we get the thread BACK on topic rather than all the rude comments and telling people to go do whatever.. If you feel that I have violated TOS then feel free to report me because I am comfortable in the knowledge that I have not.

So you're trying to tell me US News and World Report, ABC News, MSNBC, Time, and Reuters are all biased? I don't think you read one article I've linked to. I went to Obama's site. I downloaded his "tax cuts" proposal, and his "Plan for America", and I read them before I even posted about them. Then I did research, and found Obama's tax cuts weren't tax cuts, but tax shifts. If you can't live with the reality that Obama is lying, that's your problem. Not mine. If you're so far in the tank for him, then good luck to you, sister. More power to you. Don't complain to me when you and your family have to stand for hours in a soup line because of Obama's policies.

You don't think TAXING your Health benefits from your employer is tax shifting?Pulease, my DH's employer sends statements on what they pay for my Dh's health benefits, it's like over 10,000 a year! We pay 4,500 for lousy ins, and

Where do you think I got all of my information from, the Crackerjack box? I got it straight from Obama's website. I took the time to download it and read it, and do further research on it. That's how I know his tax policies are not tax cuts, but tax shifts that amount to political bait and switch. A real tax cut means you don't raise taxes in any other category. Obama wants to raise corporate, capital gains, windfall profits, and social security taxes. Read the articles I've linked to. They are proof of what I'm talking about.

The bottom line is this: You're going to pay more under Obama's tax shifts than you would under McCain.

Horse feathers, We will so get to keep our same Dr. McCain says you can get ins across State lines, but will your Dr. accept it? This could open a whole new can of worms with "fly-by-night' insuranced companies cropping up taking advantage of unsuspecting people. No, I will NOT vote for McCain!

Bush already destroyed it. We don't need anymore Republicans who favor wealthy and corporations.

How do you know your doctor won't accept it, until it happens? How do you know your doctor will accept Obamacare? Because Obama will fine them, the same as he would an employer, for refusing to accept his brand of health care insurance?
