Obama the tax shifter, not tax cutter

When Ed Rendell became governor of Pennsylvania, he promised tax cuts very similar to what Obama promises. What he gave Pennsylvanians was a tax shift. While he cut the state's income tax, he also raised taxes in other categories to make up the difference in state revenues. What Pennsylvania ended up with was a tax cut con. Pennsylvanians ended up with tax increases instead of a tax cut. Obama is going to do the same thing Rendell has done. Obama will certainly increase other taxes, which means we won't be getting a tax cut, but a tax shift.

The bottom line is this: Whenever a Democrat promises to give you a tax cut, they're actually giving you a tax shift, which overall amounts to a tax increase. It's kind of like political bait and switch. Obama is just a con man.

Why does Obama want to keep the Bush tax cuts if his tax cuts are better?

Obama would reinstitute the windfall profits tax, which almost bankrupted the oil industry back in the 1980's. Congress repealed it in 1988 because of that.

Obama wants to reintroduce the capital gains tax, not quite qt the 28% level previously stated, but somewhere between 20% and 28% according to Obama.

Obama wants to raise social security taxes.

I'm not usually a single-issue voter.

If you would have read all the articles I've linked to, you would have a better understanding of what's going on. No one who has responded has bothered to take the time to read anything, because you're all hens cackling away in Obama's hen house. Well that's fine. Cackle all you want. Obama's not the rooster you think he is. He's going to devour you, and your families, and he's not going to care.

The windfall profits tax was tried once before. You would have found that out had you read what I posted. You would have also found out it was repealed, because it almost bankrupted the US oil industry. Guess who pays for the windfall profits tax? Not Big Oil, but US consumers who drive back and forth to work. Guess what else that affects? The cost of delivering goods and services. The price of everything will go up. Small businesses will either have to raise their prices, or go out of business.

The capital gains tax affects everyone from the yard sale mom who tries to sell things on Ebay to the small businessman who tries to sell off his old equipment so he can update his business with new equipment. It's not just a tax on the rich, as you seem to think.

Thank you for proving that Obama plans to raise the cap on social security taxes. This will affect everyone also. It will hurt small businesses, who, in turn, will have to lay off employees. So will an increase in corporate taxes.

That was Congress and Clinton who did that, not Reagan. Congress also increased medicare taxes, while raising the debt ceiling. Congress also raided social security, adding social security taxes to the general fund. That's why social security is in such bad shape. We have the Democrats in Congress to thank for many of the messes we are in today. It's no wonder to me that the Democrat controlled Congress of today is less popular than the Madagascar hissing cockroach.

Why can't you defend Obama? Doesn't Obama have a leg to stand on? Is that why you're attacking McCain?

If you are talking about the links in your first post, they weren't to articles they were to magazines or newspapers homepages.

I also got the main pages of the websites. Below is copied & pasted verbatim... notice the lack of specific links but rather taking us to the main front page of each site:

There you go again, playing the class envy card. Tell me, in what way are the middle class suffering right now under the Bush tax cuts? If Obama's tax cuts are so great, why does Obama want to keep Bush's tax cuts in place until after the economy recovers? No one has even bothered to answer that question. I wonder why.
