I was kind of thinking more along the choice of church he chose to be a member of. A lot of people aren't comfortable knowing that he decided he belonged among those have been preached that the white man is responsible for repressing the minority population and a church that appears to foster resentment between the races and a dislike of American in general.
Or maybe it's the lack of information that we have over his years in New York. You know, when he was into drugs.
"How could even begin to suggest you have any insight into the dynamics of their marriage?"
Part of it's been published in their own words. Wiki has a quote from JM himself: "But my marriage's collapse was attributable to my own selfishness and immaturity more than it was to Vietnam, and I cannot escape blame by pointing a finger at the war. The blame was entirely mine."
McCain married his second wife one month after divorcing his first, but that was not the first time he committed adultery. Of course, it could be that he needed sex and his wife was just not up to it. That's as good a reason as any to dump her. Or it could be that he came home and told her the kinky stories of his escapades - and she liked it. I don't know. I'm trying to figure out how to portray this in a good light - and it's eluding me. Look, the guy is a war hero. He's got many good qualities to be sure. I don't expect the guy to be perfect. But the usual conservative emphasis on "family values" has a decidedly hollow ring to me in this case.
McCain wasn't nearly as well off financially before he married his second wife. He left his first wife and adopted kids. She had stuck with him through the time he was a POW; he left her after a crippling auto accident that took several inches off her height. A real family man.
I heard (but don't know if it's true) that he not only left her but that he cheated on her first. Where's the honor in THAT?
I'm sorry but you left out his stepfather.....he had one who moved him to a mid eastern country (sorry it's late and I'm tired and can't remember which one.)
