" I am very fearful of the people who Obama has been linked with. Those of you who are definitely voting for him why does his affiliation with Reverend Wright, Ayers and others not bother you?"

You're terrified of people whom Obama knows? You're not terrified that a guy who says he will always hate the gooks will be in the whitehouse, or that a guy who by his own admission has an evil temper will have his finger on the button.

Fear-mongering and gossip is the only tactic many people know. Ignore actual evidence, because it's too complicated to follow, spread urban legend as if it were fact, repeat the talking points given to them by the party's smear campaign.

I pulled this off a Fox news site, so it will probably meet your approval.

After reading this, it really does seem like a non-issue.

i'll admit to be somewhat ignorant of Ayers. I know "weatherman" "bombing" and it happened in the 60's.

but i also know political smears are capable of -
- taking a minor association and turning it into the illusion of a major relationship
- taking something that happened 20 years ago and making it seem relevant to today (think Palin's DUI or McCain's extramarital affair)
- taking something that was unintentional and making it seem like a conspiracy

so my job is to become more aware of Ayers' background and Obama's context involvement. At this point, Ayers is a university professor (wow don't want to associate with THOSE) and i believe they were on a community action committee (which means lots of do-gooders were involved). I don't think they were planning to bomb anything or even discussing anarchy.

i also believe there was a lengthy thread in here about how people change (from party boy plane crasher to reputable senator) and i am willing to consider who Ayers is now versus then. i also have seen photos of McCain embracing Bush as well as Charles Keating (who were both closely associated), so if i am willing to put aside that guilt-by-association for him then I should do the same for Obama.

I spent lots of years listening to people say stupid thing. I still do. It doesn't mean I agree with them. I would be very surprised if anyone who has not lived a sheltered life has not met and tried to work with wack jobs on occasion. As to McCain's "gook" remark, it's been widely reported. You can easily look it up. OTOH, I don't know that there's any absolute proof of the fact. (Absolute proof means, of course, that "Bill O'Reilly or Sean Hannity said it.")
