I know it is endlessly brought up how Obama is going to cut taxes for 95% of working families.

I don't know if you saw the clip of the plumber asking Obama about wealth redistribution. The plumber wants to be able to buy a new truck and expand his business but if Obama raises his taxes he can't afford to. Obama told him that he wants to "spread it around" so that others have a chance to succeed. It used to be that you actually had to work hard for years to succeed. Far too many Americans and their "I want it now" attitude no longer think they should have to work for anything. Obama doesn't believe in hard work and sweat to get ahead, he believes in handouts. There are long term effects to his plan and they're not good.

What Obama is missing, and his followers ignore, is that if the plumber's taxes were not raised he could then afford to buy another truck, hire another plumber (thereby putting someone to work) and spread the wealth around that way. There are actually people who want to work for what they have rather than receive welfare from Obama.

"Before you judge who is getting EIC...perhaps you should know not only the unemployed or welfare recipients qualify for it."

Well, most plumbers I know earn in the range where they will be receiving around the same refund under both McCain's and Obama's plan.

Would you like to live like that? Not having any extra money to buy anything, like new clothes for yourself or children, you have to shop at the Thrift shops(Goodwill) depend on food stamps, have to worry about buying the medicine you need or food, or pay the electric bill. I think the conservatives are clueless on how it is to be poor. They just worry about how much of their precious money is going to help someone else who is less fortunate. I think Jesus would really reward them in heaven!

Q1. What is the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC)?

A1. The earned income credit (EITC) is a tax credit for certain people who work and have low wages. A tax credit usually means more money in your pocket. It reduces the amount of tax you owe. The EITC may also give you a refund.

YOu have to have earned income.....not be on welfare...not be collecting government money. People who work hard...and make little....are still working hard. It takes all sorts of workers to make the country go.....simply because you have no respect for those who earn low wages...does not mean they are not a nessecary part of the economy or that they don't work hard everyday and show up on time to a job. Those who work in low wage jobs can still go home and show thier children that a hard day's work means a well earned pay check..no matter what they are paid. Simply because you see shame in earning low wages......does not mean those hard working people should be viewed as less worthy. You are making broad generalizations...and it is offensive. My mother never made much money...we were enver on welfare..and she taught my brother and I that a hard day's work was important. Again....jsut because someone does not make much money..does not mean they are on welfare....are lazy...or are teaching their children to be lazy or be on welfare. I can think a host of jobs that do not pay much...and require more hard work than some CEO's have seen in a lifetime.

What incentive are you referring to?

I too wish there was a way to prevent welfare fraud. But I do not feel the answer is to cut all the programs.

The system is messed up for sure. Did you know, if you are married have a child with your DH,but have a child from a boyfriend you previously had a relationship with you can get MEDICADE on YOUR salary for health ins for your child with the boyfriend? So, even if you and your DH have combined incomes of close to 50,000, you can get assistance on YOUR income if it is within the range you can be elligible for MEDICADE?

I have had this go-round with the Dept of Welfare and SCHIPs several times now. My son even has the primary custody of my grandson!

Actually, most of the conservatives that I know grew up just like you described and some of them still live that way.

I know Obama wants you to believe that "big business" has all these tax cuts, but America still has one of the highest corporate taxes in the world. Combine that, and the fact that we have probably the most expensive workers in the world, and this is why corporations move abroad. They simply cannot stay competitive if they stay here.

Now, this guy wants to raise not just the corporate tax; not just thecapital gains tax; and not just the income tax on individuals who for the most part, are the producers and employers in our country, but also the minimum wage! The plan might sound great on paper, but in
