I know it is endlessly brought up how Obama is going to cut taxes for 95% of working families.

I didn't say your decision on which plumbers to HIRE should be based on their income. The discussion here is about TAXES. You should care about the plumber who makes more than $250,000 and who's taxes will be raised hindering his/her ability to expand his business and possibly causing him/her to fire employees just as much as you care about the plumber that makes less than $250,000.

Yes you did which was the reason for my confusion regarding your reply.

"Good for them, but maybe you should care equally about the plumbers who make more and hire other plumbers."

The tone of your posts say it. No one prefers to scrape by all year and then plan the whole year around a tax return. Never once in my entire life have I heard someone say or imply...that they would love to continue to make less money to get a bigger tax return. It simply doesn't happen. No one I know or have heard of thinks this way. The incentive for most people to do better or make more.....is so they have a more comfortable life. So they can provide more for their families. No political party has the market cornered on hard work and pride in a day's work well done. The idea that people stay in low income jobs simply to get EITC....is laughable and quite ludicrous. Never in my life have I heard such a silly theory. People don't choose to stay in low income jobs jsut to get more tax money. There are a variety of reasons......the need is there for that kind of work.....no higher education...no skills in a high paying field..and the list goes on. At the very bottom of that list you will find lazy and likes being poor. High paying jobs are out there....but there are very few of them....employers know it and be picky..where as a Bachelor's Degree used to be good enough..they can now look for a Master's or PHD. The last point being....we will always be in need of unskilled labor...and low income workers. The economy would not run otherwise.

Actually I was responding to this: > The answer is no he will not tax you the same as those making 250k and under 100k he will not raise taxes at all. If you really think McCain's plan is better then by all means vote mccain. But make sure you know every detail available about both plans before deciding. And btw you never responded to my reply re your insulting remarks in post #4531.81 in this thread. Are you not going to?

that's exactly why i'm voting obama.. he wants to bring prices down not just give a small tax credit and say go buy it out of state. many of the companies you see on tv are flybynight or cover bare minimum (some even state on their sites they cover only one dr visit per year and don't cover prescriptions or testing and very few if any cover eye or dental or mental health care). The healthcare Obama is suggesting is like the off-base care we had in the military which was very good coverage.

No, no, no, you misunderstood what I wrote. I didn't say (or didn't intend to say) that you should hire other plumbers, I don't really care who you hire. What I was saying was that the plumbers who make more money hire other plumbers to work for them (in other words they employ people). We should care just as much about them and their ability to expand their business as we care about the plumber who makes less money. They're not asking for help expanding their business, they just don't want government (and higher taxes) to stand in their way. We shouldn't want government to stand in their way either. A plumber wanting to spend money on a new truck and possibly hire another plumber is good for the economy. That's the kind of thing a tax plan should be ENCOURAGING not HINDERING.
