I did not know this about Barack Obama...

I just heard on talk radio that last year Obama said that he wants to completely disarm the states of nuclear weapons. The talk show host played a clip of him speaking last year.

I am not sure where he was and when he said this.

As you know, I'm very new to this board, so I don't know individual posters well enough to interpret what is written into what is meant.

I teach middle school -- my students were first graders on Sept 11, 2001.

My daughter is in middle school, was in 1st grade at the time of 9/11, and she knows Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. She gets a lot of crap from her class mates when they bring this up in class. Then again, we live in the South in a upper middle class (mostly white) area so she also gets flack for bringing Obama up too. Last year some boy told

"Last year some boy told my daughter that she was a dirt licking, tree hugging democrat, and he was going to rip her legs off and leave stumps."

Some people in this world are just screwed. I'm convinced - and have been for years - that the vast, VAST majority of problems people have are self-inflicted. But some few are just screwed from the beginning - children are born without legs, or become blind, or develop some disease or condition. Their lives are not over, of course, but they are in varying degrees at an extreme disadvantage in experiencing a good quality of life. There are so many disabilities that can afflict children, but among the worst is having idiots for parents.

I'm not really responding to the original topic of this thread (I'll just say obviously nukes are bad and it would be great to live in a world without them but for right now that's just a dream), but I wanted to comment on your screen name bc it makes me smile too. I love trying to figure out what people's screen names mean and I just figured your's was your intials and then a reference to the fact that you're pregnant with twins - you know, pregnant to the power of two. :-)
