Thank you for sharing your experience...
Everyone hear that--doctors won't tell you how much they intend to charge you for their services prior to providing them to you.
In WHAT other industry is that the case? ANY? No.

That's been my experience...and what's worse, is the "reasonable and customary" figures they use--I've seem some show $7 for a filling???? What year would that have been? And is it made of Play-doh?
And they will cover a mercury filling at 100%, or $74, but for a white filling, which costs $168, they don't cover $168-74, but they cover 10%. What is THAT????
Dental insurance is as big a racketeering enterprise as anything, I'm with ya.
first, your tone smacks of bitterness for the doctors making a buck. does that apply to CEO's and stockholders as well?
second, doctors do not have control over the cost of tests and they ask you have them performed 1) for your own benefit - considering every possibility in correctly diagnosing your case and 2) to cover their butts in case you sue them for not considering every possibility in incorrectly diagnosing your case. medicine is more of an art than a science since the human body is not a machine.

It's interesting don't you think that if you look back in history you can trace the rise in education and health care costs to when the subsidies began. Another example of government intervention gone awry and hurting the very population it was seeking to protect. And now that's spreading to other groups as well.......
Oh and if that oh so sophisticated and wonderful system we have was so much better our mortality rates would be higher. Instead it's responsible for a third of our costs being wasted on unneeded treatments and testing.
Really--just do the research on how much more we spend on just a pregnant woman these days and what the result has been. Being pregnant is pretty much a natural bodily function. Monthly doctor's visits with multiple sonograms is excessive and wasteful. Same goes for annual physicals--unnecessary unless there is a concern. But hey--stay away from that doctor's pocketbook!
I disagree.

Sometimes these companies just don't make any sense.
"That's not the case where we have lived the past 3 times.

Well, I'm one of those women who is THANKFUL for the medical care I received while I was pregnant.
