I'll modify that a bit - I agree that for most women in a healthy pregnancy, there is no need to see an OB every month.

LOL, too funny!
I'm not sure which subsidies you are referring to. can you be more specific?

once again it would help if you dropped the condescending tone but oh well ...
if the system were better our mortality rates would be higher? did you mean "lower"? because i thought the goal of an effective healthcare system is lower infant mortality?

look at the link to Figure 1. we actually do have significantly lower mortality rates - and on a board titled "Moms and Politics" I would asume we all think this is a good thing.
<>
once again, look at the link on maternal mortality Figure 2. yes pregnancy is a natural bodily function the used to be deadly for many women. gestation is a natural bodily function that used to produce a large number of premature babies and stillbirths that are preventable by today's innovations. the point of the tests is to find the concern before it becomes a problem - while it is still treatable and before it results in morbidity or mortality.
<>
you need to provide a reference on that. just because a test was done and it was inconclusive does not mean it was unnecessary. how does your resource define "unnecessary"?
<> but i thought the underlying philosophy of Republicans was just that?
are doctors not allowed to participate in a free market? again, do you have a problem with them earning money any more than a CEO?

"I believe the problem is quite opposite. We spend way to much on chronic and catastrophic care. If we invested more in prevention and keep ourselves healthy, we would save these costs when people enter the healthcare system in crisis."

yup. and some ob/gyn are dropping the obstetrics from their practice - not because they don't want to deliver babies but because they can't afford the insurance. i find that very sad - for someone to select a specialty because they enjoy following the gestation and delivering babies, to take the training to become qualified, and then to drop the practice because it's too risky financially.
eh - that's another discussion board.

Actually that isn't for another discussion board.
You've got a good point there, Sue.
