omg are we doing the Lincoln thing again? where is that test, that map thingy? the fact that Lincoln was a Republican has more to do with the historical setting and much less to do with the current party ideology. given his record, it is highly likely he would be a Democrat in today's political environment. Jefferson was a Democratic-Republican - so what?

"This is one big area where Obama and Clinton were different - Clinton wanted it mandatory for ALL, Obama only wants it mandatory for children."

That is one point I will never understand.

"As a business owner I can answer that. No. It would be better to pay once, at the end of the year. It's a burden to pay on your "anticipated" earnings when you're trying to make a payroll, waiting on invoices to be paid, don't know what the renewal rate on your insurance premiums are going to be, etc...and to have to "guess" what the right amount should be."

It's also much easier on the small business owner who has an easier time coming up with a quarter of the money 4 times per year than to have to put that money aside (or not, which is more likely with the very small business) and have to come up with that money in one lump sum each April.

It can be looked at from both perspectives.

See, I'm one of those parents who believes that a part of my responsibility as a parent is to make sure my child gets proper medical care, which means I have health coverage for him so he can receive that care.

Every parent is different, though, with different views on their job.

I'm not sure what your point is on government healthcare? If you think it's your responsibility to be sure your children are insured, why do you need the government enforcing it to be sure you have them covered?

Not everyone makes sure their children have that coverage - and some can't afford it.
