I'm sorry...I didn 't mean to come across as snobby...I didn't want to go on about things you already might have known is all. The fetal age of viability of 24 weeks. The point at which a baby can be saved and expected to survive with a reasonable degree of certainty. I know of a few cases that babies have survived before 24 weeks...but that is the age the government has determined as the bare minimum for likelyhood of survival.

Here in my state the age at which a person can be charged with murder of a fetus is 26 weeks..the age varies from state to state as to when they will charge with murder. Usually whatever they determine the age viability is.

I am aware this is a wiki site..but it does give good information on what the age of fetal viability is. THere are numerous other sources as well. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fetus

THis one is also good for fetal rights....

It's ok....it's a debate board..it happens...lol. Sadly I know my state's guideline due to the fact that a pregnant bank teller was shot not long ago....she was shot in the abdomen and lost her twins. Sadly...she had no recourse due to the fact that her twins were not at the age of viability. I wish my state had a more inclusive law for violence against pregnant women. It broke my heart to see that poor woman with no way to prosecute the man who killed her babies.

Goodness, that is just horrible. I feel so sorry for that woman, how purely heartbreaking!

I think there is talk of giving us a law more like California's now...and the bank robber who killed her twins got the max sentence for robbery...and no chance of parole. Small comfort...but it's something I guess.

I think that would be great - that goes for fetus' after 7 to 8 weeks I believe?

If I were you I'd be writing to your state senator NOW! Maybe even get a petition going.

As soon as it becomes a technical fetus...not an embyro. He was charged with assault and attmepted murder...but sadly the most awful crime of killing her babies was left with no charge. The judge really let him have it too...as he should. THat's why his sentence was so harsh..no parole and all that.

I wrote to my senator and called..but as of yet
