unfortunately, Miyaka, you have it backwards... the wall in Germany was to prevent people from getting out.

No one was stupid enough to want to escape to East Germany...

I wouldn't think she would! I mean she know nothing about you so it would be silly for her to say anything about your abilities, don't you think?

Please read my response to "hot-water", can't believe your religion says we should have compassion for child molesters/murderers.

"I'm sure she has to realize that sex is life and it has to be talked about and dealt with."

Here's the odd thing - I suspect (pretty strongly) that I know more about sex than most parents. And yet I don't think I know enough, thoroughly enough to make sure my kids learn all they need to know from me. I augment what they learn in school, even contradicting some things, but I don't keep it from them. For the same reason, I have more math education than the vast majority of math teachers - and while I do augment (have augmented) their math education, I wouldn't presume to teach them everything they need to know about it.

I'm not even particularly concerned about my own kids either way. I'm concerned that there are kids - kids in my own neighborhood who are not getting adequate education in either school or at home.

Parents who don't want their kids to get educated by a professional are able to opt out in most places. I opted my kids out of the drug portion of the FLE (family life education) curriculum, for example. I have no opinion on schools passing out condoms, but wherever they do it, I hope they collect good data so future decisions can be based on facts and data as opposed to the fad of the day or personal conviction.

Also, very many parents don't spend near enough time in conversation with their kids to begin with. We can rant and rave about what other people ought to be doing (I frequently do it myself), but at the end of the day, we need to make sure some effort is being expended to help ameliorate the problem when parents fail.

It doesn't matter that parents tell their kids to not date at 14, they're going to anyways.

>>Please read my response to "hot-water", can't believe your religion says we should have compassion for child molesters/murderers. Something is mentally wrong with someone who think those people deserve to live.<<

No, I'm sorry, I don't think so. In fact I can only hope that those who seek to kill others, or have someone else do the killing on their behalf will find compassion too.

I see you got distracted however, and didn't seem to notice that I addressed one of your points, that having to do with why someone might not be able to afford insurance, even if they had money. Would you care to comment on the actual substance of the response?
