It doesn't bother me that her daughter is pregant, I think it may be a good thing because now maybe she can be an example of how abstinence doesn't really cut it and we need to be talking to our kids about preventing pg/std's. Teenagers have always had sex, we are supposed to reproduce. I think that ultimately parents should be responsible for giving their kids contraceptives, maybe the gov't should have a campaign that says hey kids ask your parents what happens when you have sex! J/K of course but really there needs to be something else happening to prevent so many young people from having babies.
As far as teens not using condoms, I think part of it may be that teens can have babies w/out being married and it is considered okay in our society. I would like to see adoption promoted more, maybe even a specific counselor in schools that can talk about how to give the baby up for adoption.
I wasn't voting that way to begin with, but I've been saying she was the kind of person I'd like to have over for coffee - and I would now like to take that back.
I thought for sure when they started talking about a woman on the ticket it would have been Dole or Christine Todd Whitman. McCain/Dole would have been a tough ticket to beat.
I guess since Dole's senate seat is a lock, they didn't want to lose her vote on the Senate. CTW may be too liberal to really solidify the base.
Think the RNC is supporting Palin's nom as VP because they are sick of her "medling" with Alaska politics? Maybe they are trying to get things back to before she took over?
I don't know many republicans who claim to be perfect! What they do tend to believe in is taking personal responsibility for themselves and not running to the government for assistance when things don't go their way.
The daughter's timing was definitely poor and the consequences are hers to bear. But I'm sure there will be those who find a way to blame the parents!

I disagree with you, but I'm pretty sure
"I'm actually glad he didn't chose Elizabeth Dole.
"She was raised Pentacostal"
No, she was baptized catholic...then was raised non denominational...which is the church she attends now.
"we all know that teens end up pregnant regardless of if they are taught that or if they are given condoms.

"Why is that in the U.S?
This is what happens when you ignore the fact that teens are going to have sex no matter what you tell them.
