I totally agree - but then isn't that the way they always do it to the 'common man'? Now if we were in big business or oil or banking it would be different! LOL
"I'm proud to say, I've paid in all my life. Other than what I've paid for, I've never gotten a freebe government check. Maybe that just makes me lucky but I like to think hard work and determination and two or three jobs when it was needed had a lot to do with it."
Well, I have never gotten a freebie government check either - although there was a time, following my divorce while raising three children and pursuing a degree so I could get a job, that I definitely qualified for a freebie. I totally bought into the dream I was brought up on - married, had kids, stayed home to raise them - along with caring for half the neighborhood it sometimes seemed - and then one day my world came crashing down. I hadn't worked for over a decade, had no relevant work experience, no pension fund, no college degree - but I managed to get a degree and land a teaching position while raising 3 kids with no help from their dad. I was fortunate, I was able to identify a plan of action and find a way to reach my goal - not everyone is able to do that without help.
I don't begrudge people help when it is needed. Granted there are too many people who spend a lifetime on 'help' and never get off of it. I think you will find that most, if not all, Democrats have problems with that 'lifestyle' choice as well. But don't lump all welfare recipients in the same group - and don't think that just because you and I have managed without help that everyone has the same skill set or intellect - it would be nice but it just isn't reality.
