Sorry I missed it - I had a graduate class that night and too much homework and teacher prep work to do afterwards. It is on my reading list but tonight I am posting while listening to my daughter read her history chapters - it is strangely surreal to be posting on a political discussion board while listening to early American history.
Palin may have appointed both democrats and republicans but she also had some serious issues working with people whose viewpoints differed from hers at some point in her career. Don't know if she overcame that or not but I have been looking at some Alaskan blogs and saw some really negative things from her time as mayor. Also she kind of lucked into the governor job with a 'anybody but' mentality during the election.
So far I just don't like her - I was on the fence with McCain and his choice of her is actually what put me into the Obama camp - previously I had supported Hillary.
Obama actually does have a reputation of working across the aisle in both Washington and Illinois - I know he worked with Luger quite a bit - tomorrow if I have more time I will try to post more specifics.
No that is not what I am saying at all - but it is a bit disingenuous to present off shore drilling and drilling in protected areas as a 'solution' to high gas prices today.
Don't forget that the Atlantic Ocean is a hurricane alley so to speak as well as a major source of food from fishing. Do we have the technology to prevent an oil disaster if a hurricane strikes an area with off shore drilling? Are you willing to trade the resources of the Atlantic Ocean for the potential of lower gas prices in 14 years? Keep in mind they may not actually be lower after all.
There is a lot to consider - I question people who approach this particular issue as an either/or policy. If the need is immediate this isn't the solution.
I don't have the answer - but I do think we need to be asking more questions and exploring more options rather than just jumping into something that without considering all the implications.
Wish I did have the answers, so far I haven't seen anyone who actually does.

Did you hear Joe Lieberman's speech at the Republican Convention.

There was a poster, whose name I've forgotten now who asked if any of us had adopted, raised and sent to college any kids.
Katrina, that wiped out most of New Orleans hit the oil rigs in the gulf.
