What we have to remember when looking at how candidates votes is exactly what was in the bill.

"They may not be against what the main part of the bill was about ......but want the pork removed. A great example was multiple funding for soldiers....which also included subsidy for spinich farmers, and billions of other pork projects not related. We really can't get a true picture of voting records.....nor will we until we start writing bills with only one topic in them and no pork included as well. That is why they were often for something, but voted against the bill."

mmmm. so next time someone goes after a voting record - when it comes to voting AGAINST a bill - we can't necessarily say that candidate was philosophically against the main bill. right?

I see it's still the Dems fault not matter how you slice it?? Did you read the bill for children's insurance it pretty much wanted to give children insurance. Also, how much wasted spending has gone into Iraq? Tens of billions of dollars but I am sure it was "needed" because the Republicans who chose it.

Exactly. Line item veto is the answer to that issue. Until we have that, we will continue to argue about how "insert politician name here" vetoed "insert bill here" without the average population really understanding WHY. You have to know how to read the bills.

Actually both sides voted for it. How easily we forget. You cannot blame these issues specifically on one side or the other, in all honestly. Neither side is really all that different when it comes down to brass tax.

I loved her speech, I loved her - I'm definitely voting for McCain now, and excited about it.

I also noticed how they man handled the little old lady that was there. The must have felt like big men ripping things out of her hands and almost throwing her on the ground.BTW~~~ Did you see the soldiers in the back holding up signs that read,"McCain doesn't care about US troops". I bet you missed that, right?? No one, except for maybe Republicans, wants the death of troops. Please show me where they state they want military troops dead??

I too loved her speech. It was just spot on! I was so happy to hear her hit so many points right on the head. And yes, she did talk about some of the issues, you just need to be listening with an open ear to hear them. I nearly died when I heard Obama say the very next day that she didn't even talk about the economy! WHAT!! Yes she did and here it is:

"Our opponents say again and again that drilling will not solve all of America's energy problems, as if we didn't know that already. But the fact, the fact that drilling, though, won't solve every problem is no excuse to do nothing at all.
