participation here from outside the US

I couldn't sleep so was surfing around, and read something that really fascinated me.
I'd thought that Americans largely understood their position in the world, and why people from other countries may educate themselves about US political policies and express opinions, but maybe not?
For ex., one reason I personally do so is that my country is very much effected by them.
I don't want to be "miserable" which I think was the suggestion (goodness knows, I have enough to be miserable about already!!!) but instead informed and engaged, learning and sharing.
Also, I have American relatives, and ... well... a natural interest in, for example, who holds the reigns of thousands of nuclear weapons that could obliterate the rest of us.
I'm grateful that here for the most part this does not fly over the heads of posters but instead has been readily grasped.
So a big thank you to those who comprehend my participation and who have been so nice about it over the years.
