Peace in the Middle East?

Do you think it will happen now that Yasser Arafat is dead? Will we have to start over? Pick up with the road map to peace? Israel has long said it was Yasser Arafat's fault there was no peace (okay, that's paraphrasing and oversimplifying). What do you think Israel will do now?

I think Israel will have to wait to see what the PLO does next.

Start over? No. Arafat's illness has been lingering for a while. We just happened to hear about it now, his final weeks, days. I think all depends on who becomes the new reign of power there. Peace in the Middle East is so much more complicated than the death of one power leader, IMO!

--I hope and pray that Israel does not take advantage of this situation to make further illegal landgrabs and extend the settlements.--

I have just started doing more indepth research on this subject and you seem to know a lot more than I do. In reading yesterday I came across this.

(It is part of this site http://www.eretzyisroel.org/~jkatz/ )

I realize it is a pro-Israel author but can you explain how the settlements are illegal. I don't understand.

Under many of the peace treaties that have been signed (recent ones in the 90s) Israel agreed not to extend the settlements beyond where they already were and then in the following years proceeded to do just that.
