Distribution of income tax in the US does not remain static and neither has the tax system.

Taking a larger chuck of someone else's wage and telling them to save more sounds like a

The comment about those in "tent cities" were regarding the ability to find savings.

Since we only pay income tax on actual "income", I really doubt those who are homeless have much of that in the first place. So they wouldn't be paying any income tax anyway.

I'd suggest Hong Kong. It's the most economically free country. But then again, the USA is one of the few countries that tax you on your worldwide income. So you'd not only have to move you'd have to relinquish your citizenship as well. And if they can prove you did so for the purpose of avoiding having to pay taxes they can still try to come after you! Can you tell I've considered doing the same?

But if you wait until you retire, I hear Costa Rica is where it's happening! I'd venture to guess your DH probably knows some Spanish.

Well since the savings rate has gone from 0 to 5 percent in matter of months it seems somehow people are actually managing to do so.

Since those who pay nothing actually get funds given back to them that they didn't earn, having to turn some back over and have the privilege of being called taxpayers would seem to make it worth it.

I think everyone likes to the idea of being a participant and it's a shame when society sends the message to them that they are essentially worthless as far as taxpaying goes. Thanks but no thanks.....we don't need your money.....don't you know you're on the dole?

It's like turning away the little drummer boy!

I was responding to the notion that a tax increase would be ok if it were an increase on EVERYONE.
