WOW

I like Colin Powell.

I find myself wishing he hadn't endorsed anyone.

Hmmm....

Wow, bribing or paying him for his endorsement?

I found the build up leading to Colin Powell's appearance on Meet the Press to be calculated.

Obama himself has already stated he'll offer Powell a position in his administration. Conspiracy theory? Not when it comes directly from the horse's mouth.

Powell quit his run for the Republican nomination because his wife feared he would be killed, according to Powell. Powell stopped his bid because he didn't have the support he thought he would have. He was too liberal on too many issues, and couldn't gain enough conservative backing. That's the real truth behind Colin Powell's ill fated run for the presidency. His wife's nightmares were just an excuse. And that is exactly why his endorsement of Obama isn't that critical.

A Blue Dog Democrat is a conservative Democrat. That's how the Democrats won the house back. They enlisted the help of Blue Dogs in southern states where moderate Republicans were in trouble. But thanks to their little ploy, it has only served to fracture the house Democrats. The leftist extremists have to promise the Blue Dogs all kinds of concessions to get any legislation passed at all.

~Conspiracy theory? Not when it comes directly from the horse's mouth~

"...or how much he paid him" does indeed sound like a conspiracy theory.

~Powell... And that is exactly why his endorsement of Obama isn't that critical.~

I didn't say "critical".

I didn't say "critical". Obama was already doing quite nicely. :)>

This wasn't my post you answered. Why you put it under my name is beyond me. I didn't post these remarks, so don't credit me with them. What I see here is you trying to distort what I said, or didn't say.

You had been quoting me out of context, so I supplied the context.

"...or how much he paid him" is what I consider to be a "conspiracy theory" and the context of my words. I thought I'd made that clear in my original post about it - made to the person who'd said it, but I guess not.

Are you clear now?>

There are several ways to repay Powell for his support, and one of them is to give Powell a cabinet position, which Obama himself mentioned. Case closed. Are you clear now?

a) Paying someone for an endorsement, and wanting to work closely with them because you value their skills and judgement, are two entirely different things.

b) I also think that Colin Powell is above endorsing someone just to get a position in their administration.
