While in some ways having a black president overcame some barriers, Obama in office has exposed prejudices that have been hidden below the surface for decades now. Not all who oppose him are bigoted, but I suspected a sizeable percentage are, given what we see in the way of attacks, 'humour', etc.

You do know that both Fox and WSJ are appendages of Rupert Murdoch's NewsCorp, right? There was a time when a Wall Street Journal op-ed piece meant a fairly well-reasoned and thoughtful argument for the author's point of view. That's no longer true. Look at the eye-poke against the "mainstream media"--meaning just about anything with which Murdoch or his minions disagree.

Most of the op-ed ran like sour grapes; its promising start deteriorated into a rant which featured striking sins of omission about the Affordable Care Act; efforts to shore up international relations in the wake of Bush's lamentable arrogance and ignorance; and a selective memory regarding the Party of No's participation in setting the tone in Washington. I am underwhelmed.

But for those who are already indoctrinated, there's a sense of affirmation.

For those of us who would truly like to see a rational, sensible and pragmatic GOP candidate, it sounds like another round of "attack the opposition" and cower under the apologia of reverse-racism; all to cover the GOP's pathetically thin field.

There's nothing "thin" about the GOP candidates...ALL tower over Obama in experience and capability. The only problem conservatives have is picking which guy will kick Obama's a__.

Absolutely amazing. No experience needed to be the President of the United States? Just jaw dropping. But that is what we are dealing with, and look at the mess they've gotten us into. No wonder.

No, I just knew I wanted bush dead that's all. I voted my conscience .

The left, admitting to the hate that they accuse the right of. Slam dunk.

Ah, I see what the problem is now, Anthony. One person doesn't constitute the "left."
