This has got to be one of the most horrid teachers I've ever seen. This clip is from a documentary that was aired in Sweden last night. I feel so sorry for that poor little girl. I hope her mom sees this and that this teacher is fired.

Turns out the teacher was accurate.

I have to agree with the PP who said that she didn't think the teacher "browbeat" the student. I don't think that teachers should be partisan in the classroom

I am starting to feel like a yes ma, but I agree with you.

I doubt her father will be gone for more than 15 months at a time, and regardless of how long the war lasts, I doubt her father will be in the military more than 20 years

Wow. She lied and misrepresented the facts to that little girl for the purpose of making her feel bad about her or her families decision.

I'm an Obama supporter and I don't think what that teacher did was right either.

I will agree that she misrepresented the girl's father having to serve for a hundred years but I think that it was an obvious exaggeration given the fact that her father would most certainly not still be living, let alone in the military a hundred years from now.

Most 5th graders won't recognize that it is an exaggeration, at least not right away, especially when it comes from a teacher and hits too close to home emotionally.

If you don't believe in war to settle disputes, then that does indeed make you a pacifist.

I don't believe I said "Only" 15 months. 15 months is a long time, and I couldn't imagine having to be apart from my girls for that long. I certainly don't mean to be offensive, but to suggest that the girl might not be with her dad for 100 years is absurd.
