See that's what people should do.
Instead of being afraid of any certain group, they should support the groups that forward their own beliefs or agenda. It's a much more positive action.

>>So far as I have seen, FOF is not a political group.
Focus on the Family is quite political. For example, they ran an ad that asked that people pray for "Biblical rain" in Colorado during Obama's nomination acceptance speech in August. (http://www.thedenverchannel.com/politics/17166715/detail.html)
James Dobson met with Bush to "rally support" for Bush's Iran policy: http://rawstory.com/news/2007/Bush_meets_with_Dobson_Christian_right_0514.html
I could go on, but I've run out of time. I wish I could remember the details, but a group of religious right leaders, including Dobson, have been meeting with the Bush administration -- or with one another? -- to discuss political strategy and policy for a number of years. This meeting has a name. If I could remember it, I could unearth more details on it. If I find this information, I'll share it. If someone else knows what the heck I'm talking about, feel free to post the details.
I think it's great to get involved in causes you believe in. (Even though I'm betting that you and I would disagree on a lot of things!) Just be aware of the organizations that you are working with. It's fine to work with political organizations. Just know that that's what they are.

Also, thank you for responding to my post with such kindness regardless of if our ideas were the same or not.

You are very welcome.
As aside, despite FOF's political activities in my country, our courts and Parliament did allow same sex couples to marry.
I don't think FOF was involved with or funding his church, no,
